Mercato To Open at Centrio

Manila's premier night food market is on its way to Ayala's Centrio Mall, Cagayan de Oro. But before we get on with the details, what exactly is Mercato? Mercato Centrale is the popular food and lifestyle market managed by the Mercato Centrale group which brainchiled several successful food markets in key Ayala Mall locations around MM which include Midnight Mercato in Bonifacio Global City (The Fort), Taguig, Mezza Norte in Trinoma Mall, Quezon City and Cucina Andare (the first truck market in the Philippines) in Glorietta Mall, Makati. And they're set on taking their food-tripping experience to Cagayan de Oro with Mercato de Oro. It will feature a night food and entertainment market every Friday and Saturday (4pm-3am) and a morning gourmet food and organic market every Saturday (7am-2pm). For the nocturnal people missing The Night Cafe at DvSoria, Mercato de Oro offers you a substitute, set in a more family-friendly environment. It's free entrance and expected to be a hit with balikbayans, tourists and Kagayanons as well.

We at CDOSocial were delighted to meet RJ Ledesma (TV Host for GMA News, Joey in Royal Tru-Orange series in the '80s) and Anton Diaz (of Our Awesome Planet, the #1 Food & Travel Blog in the Philippines), co-founders of Mercato Centrale. They personally introduced us to the market's concept, answering even the most bizarre questions like 'How do you spell cucina/cocina?' (garnering a round of laughs from the crowd). Several people from the press were there. Folks from Business Week MindanaoThe LaunchPad Magazine, Gold Star Daily, to name a few.

Ideally, it will be a food and lifestyle market where home-grown entrepreneurs of Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Iligan, Ozamiz and Pagadian and neighboring provinces can showcase their local cuisine, specialty dishes, produce and crafts.
